Getting kids into fitness not only benefits their physical health but helps make academic studies easier too!
children’s activity level and academic performance. These
studies support one another in suggesting that when a
substantial amount of school time is dedicated to physical
activity, academic performance meets, and may even
exceed, that of students not receiving additional physical
activity (Shepard, 1997).
Other studies in the field of neuroscience have also shown an increase in neural connections in the area of the brain involved in movement and learning when consistent exercise is a part of children’s activities.
Also, it is thought that physical activity may alter hormonal mechanisms that could improve the child’s attention in the classroom.
Here at CrossFit Southern Highlands we feel that regular exercise in a group environment with other similar aged children has a few more benefits as well. It encourages team work, tolerance and appreciation of other people’s skills and abilities, honesty and integrity.
Our children’s classes are called Mini Machines and caters for kid’s aged 5-12. We limit the number of participants to 15 under the watchful eye of a fully trained children’s fitness coach. All with the added bonus that adverse weather conditions don’t affect our classes as they are held inside our facility at CrossFit Southern Highlands.
